Planetside 2 character stats not updating
Pay to win is buying power that is otherwise not achievable, which is not the case for planetside 2.
Case in point, I've been using the starting weapons since I started playing over a year ago on PC.
What you can buy is weapons for your character or vehicles and cosmetic stuff.
Because there isn't a gun that's "OP" it's not really an issue that players can buy weapons IMO.
Some weapons do perform better than others, but it's very situational.
Damage to range, rate of fire with magazine size, accuracy, etc.
I've gone up against people who have unlocked some of the other weapons whether by certs or battlecash, yet they still go down just as well as any other player using any other gun.
I've tried googling for info on how to unlock sights, new weapons, classes, etc, but I can't seem to find clear answers. But there wasn't a very clear explanation of them that I could find.
From my understanding they're only used to unlock new attachments...? I really tried looking for the info on my own but there's a lot of poor info about this game out there.
The ability to buy weapons without any explanation of how to earn new stuff seemed really foreboding. For the PS4 release they added level-based unlock system, which stupidly restricts new players from trying out most of the vehicles. AFAIK, the only class you can't access from the start is the MAX unit. With each time your Battle Rank (level) increases, you're granted 100 certs as a gift (this ends at BR15).
They're treated like vehicles anyways - they cost Nanites to deploy and are repaired by Engineers (though Medics can revive them).-----Anyways, here's a rundown of the three currencies in Planetside 2: Nanites: Replenished in game. They are spent on deployables - vehicles, MAX units, grenades, and C4/Mines/Medkits. You are replenished with something like 50 Nanites per minute or so. Certs are spent on character/suit upgrades, vehicle upgrades, and weapons/attachments.
